Hi All

Let's get open access community owned fiber optic Internet for all residences and businesses in Davis!

So DavisGIG efforts are continuing through our activist group, and will now proceeding more formally through this Task Force.

We need to work on this through both approaches.

Anyone in the community interested in serving as a member of the public should be encouraged to apply.

Also know that more outreach will happen from this group will occur this year.

More updates soon!

Rob from Omsoft, DCN, and DavisGIG

The City is seeking individuals who have an interest in community service and have some expertise in a related area such as communication technology, utilities, finance, or city infrastructure projects. This is a great opportunity to assist in identifying options to enhance availability of broadband important to the community.

To be considered for appointment as a general community member on the Broadband Advisory Task Force, you must be a City resident and a local internet user. Members may include, but are not limited to, residents, business owners, students located in County areas receiving any City services through a county service area or other county special district or through direct agreement with the City for utility services.

Applications may be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 23 Russell Boulevard during regular business hours, or downloaded from the city’s website<http://www.cityofdavis.org/city-hall/city-council/commissions-and-committees/apply-to-serve-on-a-city-commission>. In addition to the application form, committee applicants may be required to participate in a five to ten-minute private interview with a Council Subcommittee and city staff. Applications should be submitted to City Clerk’s Office, Davis City Hall, 23 Russell Blvd., Suite 4, Davis, CA 95616 or by email at CityClerk’soffice at cityofdavis.org<mailto:CityClerk%E2%80%99soffice at cityofdavis.org>. Applications are due by February 10, 2016.

The Broadband Advisory Task Force will advise the City Council on goals for broadband access, examine models of delivery, explore funding options, and recommend to the City Council steps for implementation.
