High-speed internet is as essential as electricity and running water,
and everyone deserves affordable access to this utility. Especially in
our rural areas, broadband access is a vital resource for schools,
businesses, healthcare, and more. Bridging the digital divide is a
legislative priority, and as your representative in the State Assembly,
I am working hard to ensure all Californians are connected to the
virtual world. The Legislature recently allocated $6 billion in a budget
deal toward expanding internet access in California, which is a great
victory.

To talk about this latest effort and more, I will be taking part in a
virtual town hall on broadband access, hosted by my colleague
Assemblymember Robert Rivas, in partnership with local leaders that have
been at the forefront of the fight for Internet for all. This event is
an opportunity to hear about new state legislation and local initiatives
currently underway to narrow the digital divide. We will also include a
live Q&A session so we can hear from you about how the digital divide
has affected you or your family.
